Victorians invented Christmas, as we know it. Once a staid religious holiday – if observed at all – people in the nineteenth century began customs that have become our traditions.
Come visit the Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion and create a new holiday tradition for you and the people you love!
Starting December 8, our house tours will focus on Victorian Christmases. Come see the mansion decorated with authentic Victorian holiday trimmings. Hear about the invention of ideas like giving gifts, special foods, and literature that celebrated Old St. Nick and the more modern idea of Santa Clause.
Reservations requested. Reservations required for Christmas tours on December 23 and 24!
